I was called into ministry in January of 2009, but I had no idea at the time. I thought I was going to work at Kanakuk Kamps for one summer and then would pursue a career as a professional golfer or businessman. I was clueless that God would use that summer to eventually bring me on staff at Watermark in the spring of 2014.

I grew up and spent the first 22 years of my life freezing my butt off in Minnesota during the winter months and chasing a golf ball around during the summer months. I trusted Christ as my savior at a young age but had no idea what it meant to live for him. I thought being a good kid and performing was what God wanted from me (see also: the Pharisees). That led to idolatry of golf, a pornography addiction, unhealthy relationships, pride, self-righteousness, and a self-centered view of the world. It wasn’t until working at Kanakuk, studying God’s Word for a year, and going all-in at Watermark that God rescued me from myself and I started to better understand and live in God’s grace on a daily basis.

I have the incredible privilege of serving on the Community team at Watermark. Authentic, biblical community is something God used to change my life, and it is a great joy to point others toward the same thing.

Second to Christ, God’s greatest gift to me is my wife, Megan. We met at Kanakuk in 2007, but it took me 5 years to wake up and smell the coffee before I asked her out. We enjoy time with friends, reading, competing, anything outdoors/active, and our perfect date night will include Chipotle or Papa Murphy’s Pizza, and froyo.
